Sea Cloud is a beautiful example of the Alden 54 mid-cockpit design built in Rhode Island by Alden Yachts. She has a shoal draft of only 5’-7” (board up), which opens up all sorts of cruising options. Sea Cloud features a spacious two-cabin/two-head layout with a large owner’s cabin aft, with centerline king-sized berth and separate stall shower, and an over-sized U-berth forward. She is well-equipped with a furling mainsail, three electric winches and bow thruster and has benefited from many significant upgrades in the past ten years, including new engine, teak decks, carbon rig, sails, electronics, refrigeration, canvas, fabrics and much more.
Alden Yachts was a classic American design/build house founded, of course, by the legendary John G. Alden in 1909. His career really took off when his Malabar VII won the Bermuda Race in 1923 (repeated again in 1926 and 1932). Early on, Alden Yachts became best known for their fast and seaworthy offshore schooners but in later years their broad range of exceptional vessels have become true classics that turn heads as do many of the contemporaries that bear the Alden name.
