The Best Of Boat WorldsTM

We’re still on our pilothouse kick, so we’ll another into the mix. Merdeka, this 1999 Celestial 50 Pilothouse, designed by Bryce Fuhriman, is built for off-shore cruising. Known for their stout construction and smart layout, Merdeka comes equipped with a breadth of gear and space.

Above decks is a nicely placed center cockpit with a commanding view in all directions. The high cockpit bulwarks lend to a dry and safe position to take the helm. High lifelines and roomy side-decks allow easy movement forward and aft and there is a ton of storage in the aft lazarettes and forward lockers.

Below deck entry is gained from the cockpit or the starboard pilothouse door. The raised salon with large picture windows allows for uncompromising views. The interior helm is nicely positioned and has great visibility, something that many pilothouse yachts lack. Lovely quality of rich woods adorn the interior.

Going aft, down the stairs from the salon, is the aft cabin. This cabin is quite roomy and includes tons of storage space. The attached head even includes a soaking tub. Mechanical access is easy due to the large hatches in the salon deck. Gear is easy to service and there is extra storage there as well. A true offshore boat, she is equipped with a sea-chest with twin redundant inlets. This limits the amount of below waterline penetrations to only a few.

Merdeka has travelled near and far. She has been in Northern Europe, several Trans-Atlantic’s, and throughout the US East Coast. She is well poised and priced to continue her journeys.
