A 1990 Ted Hood 50
QUARTET, this flat out gorgeous Ted Hood 50 is a custom Lyman-Morse built sloop that was commissioned in 1990 by an experienced yachtsman for the purpose of circumnavigating – a dream she accomplished from 1990-1993. She is of extremely rugged construction with no expense spared, and features the Hood-designed “whale bottom” known for their sea-kindly motion.

With her teak house, flush foredeck and graceful sheer, she’s as pretty as they come, with a Herreshoff style interior that features custom mahogany cabinetry throughout.

Her second owner acquired the boat in 2011, and, like the original owner, has spared no expense—consistently storing the boat indoors during every winter layup, and attending to maintenance needs and (discretionary) upgrades in advance. Some examples include removal and replacement of original aluminum fuel tanks (even though they were still serviceable), “tuning” the centerboard with Delran shims (to remove even the slightest “board noise”), and installing a bow thruster. Although QUARTET is capable of again sailing the globe at a moment’s notice, the current owner (a family of four) have only cruised her regionally these past eight seasons. They are now ready to find the next steward of this exquisite yacht.
