The Best Of Boat WorldsTM

CHASSEUR is a unique Swan 44, with many core updates and customizations designed and implemented by Sparkman & Stephens. As originally designed, the Swan 44 is considered by many to be one of the best offshore cruisers S&S ever designed. Which is saying a lot. The improvements on CHASSEUR make her even more special.

In 1997 the stern, rudder, keel and rig were all updated by S&S. In 2015, they redesigned the companion way to allow direct access from the cockpit to the aft cabin, which eliminates the need to cross the bridge deck to get below, while creating more space for the galley. She was also updated with electric winches, a DC generator, and a watermaker.

The owner’s stateroom is aft with single berths, port and starboard separated by two hanging lockers, storage space and seat with storage below. There is storage beneath both berths and shelves over. The head is accessed from the starboard side of the stateroom and includes vanity and sink, toilet, shower and several storage lockers. The head is also accessible from the main cabin. The companionway hatch is on the center line with a ladder, making access to the cockpit and communication from down below to the those on deck very easy and safe.

Moving forward to port into the main cabin, there is a large hanging locker followed by the galley, complete with double stainless sinks with hot and cold pressure water, large top loading refrigerator, and 3-burner gimballed propane stove with oven. On centerline is the engine box with self-contained freezer on top and a custom locker overhead with a microwave oven in the forward side and additional storage for the galley.

The Nav station is to starboard which is the electronic and electrical control station for the vessel. There is storage under the seat, bookcase, drawers and storage under the chart table. Further forward there are pilot uppers and transom lowers both port and starboard separated by a drop leaf table with storage. Forward of the berths are storage lockers and drawers. Moving further forward is the forward stateroom with a hanging locker to port and a general storage locker to starboard and a spacious “V” berth with filler. There are sail storage bins under the berths. The entire interior is varnished teak with teak and holly soles, vinyl and teak overheads and cabin lights.

CHASSUER is listed by Sparkman & Stephens for $197,500 USD and lies in Newport, Rhode Island.
