This is a rare opportunity – an essentially new Valiant 50 – sailed only once. The Valiant 50 was developed in 1997 from the famed Valiant 47, known for many successful circumnavigations, many of them made solo. This is the last Valiant 50 made, and quite possibly the most special, with many customizations and improvements over stock dictated by the highly experienced owner who had her built.
Unusual for a Valiant, she’s all white, with a soft white chosen for the decks to minimize glare when sailing the tropics and for keeping the hull cool. Every system, from electrical to plumbing was made with careful consideration based on the experience of thousands of bluewater miles. Valiants are considered to be some of the strongest boats built but the owner specified this version to be even more so, with an additional layer of 1.5 oz matt and 24 oz woven roving from the keel sump to the sheer. A single through hull for water intake supplies the engine, generator, deck wash down, and water maker. There are only four through hulls in the boat, all on the starboard side for easy access, and all with bronze ball valve sea cocks.
The boat is fully equipped with dinghy, Quantum sails, electronics, radar, plotter, SSB, two zone AC system, hard dodger and many extras. She has less than 100 hours on her diesel and is ready to take her new owners anywhere in the world. Constructed at a cost of just under $1MM, she is listed for $499,000 USD in Annapolis, Maryland.
