This restored 1948 Rocketeer was built by Ventnor Boat Works in a small boat yard in Ventnor, NJ. Founded by Adolph Ventnor in 1902, Ventor Boat Works gained fame as the builder of the world’s fastest custom speed boats including Sir Malcolm Campbell’s “Bluebird”, the fastest boat in the world at the time. The company moved to Atlantic City at the beginning of World War II and switched from racing and pleasure boats to producing war ships.
This wooden beauty is in stellar condition and has had a recent re-finish and engine tuning by Freedom Boat Service. The mahogany finish is simply brilliant and the plush red seats are begging us to have a seat. And who’s not a sucker for the oversized banjo steering wheel. This is #5 of six 23′ twin engine Ventnors ever built. Only three of the six are known to exist, and only one other has been restored. Rocketeer is powered by twin Gray Marine “Fireball” six cylinder engines.
Rocketeer is for sale by Freedom Boats for $225,000 and includes the tandem axle trailer and mooring cover.
